You can also download the Kindle app on your iPhone. Once you download the app from the App Store, register for it using your Amazon Kindle account. While you can use a USB cable to transfer a Mobi file to your iPhone, you can also do so via email. To add Mobi files to the Kindle app on your iPhone, follow the steps below:

Any MOBI files you have already sent to your Kindle will not be affected by this change. However, the downloadable multi-format eBook files available on your Microsoft Press Store account will no longer include the MOBI format; those links will be removed on August 18, 2022. The EPUB and PDF links will remain. Purchases of future multi-format eBook files on microsoftpressstore.com after August 18 will include the EPUB and PDF formats, but will no longer include MOBI.

This change does not mean any loss in content from your purchase, as the EPUB file already included with your purchase still contains all the same content, and may be used on the same devices and apps as the MOBI format was. Please visit your account and download any MOBI files you wish to retain, before August 18. After August 18, please use the EPUB format for viewing on Kindle apps and devices. You may also view Amazon's Help Page for information on sending content to Kindle devices and apps, and contact Amazon Digital Services and Device Support for assistance with loading the EPUB format.

If you've bought a book online recently, or downloaded a free public domain book at a site like Project Guttenberg, there's a good chance that it's a .mobi file. But you probably weren't able to open it because you didn't have the right software installed.

On tablets and ereaders, you might not be prompted for where to save your file, and we have had reports of different locations being used from time to time, or by different software. You might need to look around in your downloaded files areas.

Many or all Kindles allow you to install alternate eBook reader software. Advice we have received (which might need adjustment for your specific device, or if some versions of software are updated from when these instructions were written): install a third party EPUB reader and start downloading the EPUB files instead of the Kindle files from Project Gutenberg. You may want to read up on installing third party apps on the Kindle you have. Advantages of EPUB files over Kindle files include: that they are much smaller than Kindle files and that they work on the Apple iPad too.

For other file types, you can try copying from your computer to the device as described above. Use the Google Play Store or a similar source for searching for apps, to find ways to download and display EPUB and MOBI (Kindle) files.

Simply download the .ttf/.otf files and add them to the Library/Fontsfolder in your home folder.

After downloading a .mobi file, there are three ways to add it to your Kindle library. We recommend first trying to use Amazon's Send to Kindle desktop app. If that doesn't work, you can send files to your Kindle using your email or transfer the file with a USB cord. If you are having trouble using the Prolific Works App to download to your Kindle app, click here.

If you are on a computer (Windows or Mac), there is a program you can download called Send to Kindle. It is an official Amazon program that will quickly get mobi and pdf ebook files from your computer to your Amazon Kindle account.

The email also advised that while MOBI and AZW files already in your library will continue to open, if you want to take full advantage of Kindle features, you should convert to EPUB and re-upload once this change takes effect. Fortunately for me I keep all of the eBook files sent to me in the cloud, so I can, but I predict many ebook owners are going to be hung out to dry on this issue as Amazon still does not allow you to download your document files from your Devices and Content library. (Thanks, Amazon.)

If you're a canny shopper (and know where to look), you can read a lot of books for completely free, as some classics are available through platforms like Project Gutenberg. However, most of those downloadable classics come in the EPUB file type. Luckily, with a little know-how on your side, you can easily render EPUB files readable on Kindle devices.
